How i spend my (Cov)Eid this year.

This year was definitely different. The new normal is taking a toll on everything including big festival celebrations. This year for the first time in my life, I only celebrated Aidilfitri with my parents with all my siblings abroad. I celebrated in my hometown compared to my 'kampung' in Miri, Sarawak. We had to burn our tickets after finding out that we can't 'balik kampung' during MCO.

The day started with my dad waking me up to get ready to perform the Eid prayer and listen to the sermons. When normally it was getting ready to get to the mosque, we dressed nicely to perform it at home. My parents decided we should do it with the whole family by calling my other siblings on WhatsApp Video Call. It didn't feel weird or anything, except i couldn't stop wishing that the pandemic didn't happen because its ruining the day where my family usually gets together and enjoy our time with each other. We are doing the same thing but them not being physically here makes it feels different.




Unfortunately, compared to other dads on social media holding some kind of a pole to resemble the 'khatib', my dad didnt find anything ridiculously usable. He can be very pious and takes religious acts seriously.


Eventhough we had to adapt to the new normal, my parents didn't fail to get our usual lemang and ketupat. The day before my cousin came by to drop us some lemang she bought from a stall that was open. My cousin and her family came by to our house on Eid, worry not it's not more than 20 people. We again video called with everyone, this time including our cousins from Sarawak. It was nice being able to catch up with everyone but in a way its hard because everyone is talking over one another. It was a different kind of celebration this year. Nonetheless, I'm glad that everyone is staying safe at home and still manage to keep their lives going despite the pandemic. I'm glad to see everyone is in good health. I still wish till this day that the pandemic never happened.

Youtube sensation Sugu Pavithra have hit 100,000 subscribers earning them a Silver Play Button award.  The news was announced by Pavithra herself in her Youtube video 'Unboxing the Silver Play Button'. Pavitra and her husband Sugu reportedly celebrated the achievement with their family and friends with fried chicken and a cake.
