How I spend the Biggest Festival for Muslims 'Eid-Ul-Fitr' Every Year
I was born on the first day of tenth Arabic Lunar month Shawwal which is also considered as the Eid-Ul-Fitr. It is a special occasion for us Muslims but for me two-in-one special. Eid gets announced right after the Eid moon is seen on the sky. Me being born after that moon was seen made my parents naming me the word Al- Helalee, which means Moon of the Eid.
So, every year when the Ramadan starts I start feeling very happy. I plan thoroughly how I would spend my Ramadan and Eid. I’m not cutting cake, blowing candles kind of a guy. I would rather spend those money on donations for the people who actually needs it. On every Ramadan, I fix a day when I prepare food for my neighbours, friends or family (whoever is within my range) and call them to have iftar with me. Before Eid day I prepare gifts for people I love and the people in need with whatever I got. I surely don’t own a lot of possessions but I try to do with it.
Religious festivals always teaches us to share our happiness, spread love and get more closer to our creator Allahu Subhanallahu Ta’Ala. It gives me peace. Now that I am studying far away from my family, it is quite difficult to relax and enjoy while dealing with so many stress. But my family always gives me courage from over-seas to move forward, fulfil my responsibilities and also enjoy myself a bit.
I love spending festivals with my family the most because I have an extended family with a lot of siblings, niece and nephews. They all love my company but for last four years I’ve spending it in Malaysia with my University friends who are also my family now.
Kabsa, Kunafa, fruits are my most favourite things to eat even though my mother cooks several more dishes because all my siblings has different taste-buds. But while spending it in Malaysia, I cook myself some of these items, not good enough like my mother’s one but not bad either.
Because of the pandemic situation in all over the world, I spent my this year’s Eid day at the hostel. We had to maintain social distance while praying but we couldn’t stop ourselves to take a selfie. Because most of my friends along with me are in final year and this would be the last Eid being spent on the campus. So, we couldn’t lose the opportunity to capture the moment with the magic of mega-pixels.
